Mixing Water and Prevention through Design

Description: In 2005, the American Water Works Association Research Foundation commissioned a multi-year study to assess how Health and Safety are integrated into water utility’s operations, management and facility design. This presentation discusses the findings and results of this study. Utilities have unique characteristics that affect safety management. Attributes of state-of-the-art programs, along with best practices and the research team's model process for integrating safety and enhancing worker performance through design will be presented. This model provides a roadmap that can be applied in other industries.
