Tips for Presenting at the ASSE Professional Development Conference
Congratulations on being selected to speak at ASSE’s PDC! We expect a tremendous PDC experience in Las Vegas.
As you start formalizing your presentation, the following tips are offered to help your session be well-received:
- Attendees tend to be more experienced. Limited time is normally needed to set up the theory behind the presentation topic.
- Attendees tend to look for the “how to” part of the session.
- Run through the presentation on the laptop you’ll be using at the PDC several hours before your session (there is typically a speaker room available for this). This will allow you to work out any issues and make any changes prior to your session.
- Arrive at the room for your presentation no later than 30 minutes ahead of time.
- Attendee evaluations provide vaulable feedback. Please remind attendees to complete the online session evaluation form by adding this slide to the end of your PowerPoint presentation. Click here for the PowerPoint slide.
- At the end of your session, you will need to pack up quickly so that the next presenter has time to set up for his/her presentation.
PowerPoint tips:
- Use either dark letters on a light background or light letters on a dark background to ensure there is significant contrast.
- Limit the words per slide. Select an easy to read font such as Arial.
- Check the spelling and grammar.
