BIOGRAPHY

Richard A. Pollock, CSP, is the President and Founder of CLMI, Minneapolis, MN. He is degreed in Safety Education and Management from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, where he received the Distinguished Alumni Award.

An ASSE member for 32 years, Mr. Pollock has received the Charles E. Culbertson and President’s Awards from the Society, and Northwest Chapter SPY award.

He is the current ASSE VP for Professional Development and a member of the Board of Directors. Previously, Mr. Pollock served for 11 years on the National PDC Planning Committee and as the Chair for 3 more years. He served on the Council on Professional Development, the Long Range Planning Committee, and is a member of four Practice Specialties. Mr. Pollock has been a member of the Board of Directors, Delegate, PDC Chair, Secretary, and National PDC Host for the Northwest Chapter.

Mr. Pollock serves on the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health Scientific Advisory Council and the NIOSH Midwest Center Professional Advisory Board. He is the founder of the Safety Publishers Council and the Direct Delivery Leadership Council. He served on the Board of Directors of the Training Media Association, and Instructional Systems Association.

A safety professional for over 32 years, Mr. Pollock’s experience includes senior safety management positions in the petrochemical, food processing, steel fabrication, biomedical products, and insurance industries. He specializes in safety performance analysis, the design of management systems, and training solutions. Through CLMI, Mr. Pollock has authored or produced over 500 safety education programs.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

It is a positive time for the ASSE. For me personally and professionally it is an honor to have been involved with Professional Development for over 15 years, currently serving as your VP- Professional Development and previously as your Chair of the National PDC Planning Committee. We have hosted many outstanding events; setting attendance records and receiving high attendee satisfaction ratings.

ASSE Professional Development is healthy and growing, with increased participation in symposia, seminars, and outreach programs. Now we are reaching out to the Regions and Practice Specialties - developing new education initiatives, and expanding opportunities for all. This success is important - funding enhanced member services, and the advancement of our profession.

The challenge is to build on our momentum and continue to meet your professional development needs.

First things first, we must host the best Professional Development Conference we can - World-Class and second to none! We must present the best educational offerings available, recognize our diversity, and expand opportunities for all members.

As your VP of Professional Development we will continue to focus on improving communication, cooperation and opportunity.

  • We will continue to focus our “grassroots” efforts
  • Helping to increase cooperation among the Councils, Practice Specialties, Regions, Areas and Chapters, and assist in delivering successful education programs.
  • We will continue several new initiatives
  • Helping Regions and Practice Specialties host focused symposia and seminars.
  • Creating new educational opportunities for our “executive level” members.
  • Guiding our newest members as you prepare to move up the ladder of success.

Professional Development is my passion, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve you for another 2 years.
