Since July 2005, it has been my pleasure to serve you, our members, as your Regional Vice President. During that time, Region One has made great strides for the good of its members. We improved our communication tools. The Chapter Report now reports the chapter’s strengthens and weaknesses. Our regional webpage was redesigned and provides access to improved tools that aid our chapters. We expanded our communication web to include president-elects to keep them informed. The Chapters receive routine reports regarding my Regional and Society activities.
I believe that the key to overcoming our challenges and taking advantage of our opportunities is communication. My goal is to continue to provide a steady flow of useful information. Members, as well as, our Chapter and Society leaders, can make informed fact-driven decisions that support our vision, mission, values, and goals when they receive accurate and pertinent information. Provision of this critical information requires open two-way communication between our individual members, chapter leaders, society leaders, and professional staff. I have been, and will be, the conduit that provides that two-way communication – sharing knowledge and information between members, chapter leaders, and our Society’s board.
I believe that I can facilitate our continued growth and help chapter leaders to meet our responsibilities to membership. I have a vision of the future which is based on a belief that our primary goal is to provide quality service to our members.
William Jennings Bryan said, “Destiny is not a matter of chance, but of choice. Not
something to wish for, but to attain.” I believe that we have a choice. I believe that each
chapter can be a premier resource to its members; Region One can be a premier resource to ASSE; and ASSE can be a premier resource for safer, healthier environments throughout our global community.
